Mercedes-Benz World will be celebrating its first birthday this weekend, and you’re invited. Although officially the anniversary was last week, it’ll be this Saturday and Sunday (3-4 November) that the festivities take place. Stirling Moss will be going down to Surrey to collect the keys to his new Smart and sign autographs, they’ll be a free prize draw to win passenger rides in the SLR or with the Silver Arrows display team, and Mercedes’ AMG and off-road courses will be available for a birthday price of £15.
We've driven the famous Jaguar XJR-8 Le Mans race car in the new June 2012 issue of CAR Magazine – and to mark the occasion we have three pairs of VIP tickets to the Goodwood Festival of Speed to give away. Back before there was the Internet, or even big car-parts chain stores, there was the JC Whitney catalog. Printed on cheap, pulpy paper and featuring tens of thousands of tiny, hand-drawn illustrations, these thick books gave me many hours of enjoyment in the early 1980s, as I fantasized about how I'd modify my incredibly sketchy and hooptified '58 Beetle. Now I've picked up a 1975 JC Whitney catalog, and the Volkswagen section is even better than I remembered!
